Have you ever seen a miniature tree in a pot – known as bonsai – and wanted to learn the skills needed to grow your own? In this hands-on class we’ll teach you the basics of how bonsai are created, and get you started growing, styling, and caring for your very own tree!
The morning portion of this course we will equip you with a basic understanding of the art of bonsai, its history and philosophy, and information on choosing plants, tools, and products.
Our annual holiday party took place at the Krohn Conservatory, and was a spectacular event surrounded by the incredible holiday displays at the Krohn.
Frank Mihalic of WILDWOODGARDENS.COM and FRANKSBONSAIJEWELRY.COM visited from Cleveland, Ohio for this wonderful shimpaki juniper workshop. Everyone learned a lot from Frank and had a great time!
Prior to COVID disrupting everything, the new talent competition was an annual event hosted at the Krohn Conservatory during the Fall Bonsai Show, and now finally it was back again this year!
Administered by Lifetime Member Don Brown, this year's competition tree was the garden juniper (juniper procumbens 'nana',) and looked to be a challenging tree for the eight new members taking part in the competition.

The BSGC's Fall Bonsai Show at the Krohn Conservatory is always a fantastic event, and this year was no exception. There were many beautiful trees, from old favorites to first-time entries, including Braden Matt's show-winning conifer.
