For the August workshop, bonsai artist Rob Kempinski critiqued the brought trees and helped with design, trimming, and styling.
In this month's meeting we talk about the upcoming white elephant sale and our Fall Bonsai Show and the Cincinnati Krohn Conservatory. After the general meeting we have an excellent presentation and brief demo by renowned bonsai artist Rob Kempinski from Bonsai Empire.
Our bonsai society has a long history of annually offering to its younger members the opportunity to participate in a bonsai competition. We title this event---The BSGC New Talent Competition. This event is just what the name implies—a competition to recognize and promote new bonsai talent within our club. After a short postponement in 2020 & 21, we are resuming the tradition this year. The following are the essentials:
We are now set up with a club account with American Bonsai (American Bonsai Tool & Supply Co.) which provides us with a 10% off discount for BSGC members and is good on all items in any quantity. Use code BSGC10 at checkout to receive 10% off.
Kerry Goode will conduct this members-only workshop with Jade bonsai.
Kerry has been in the horticultural industry for over 30 years. He is also a a collector of unusual trees, shrubs, perennials, and bulbs and is currently the buyer, nursery manager, and merchandiser at Delhi Flower and Garden Center. Needless to say, he loves bonsai!
We need 1-3 volunteers to work each Wednesday and Saturday, 10am-2pm. Please sign up here.
Volunteers are there to talk about Bonsai with guests. You will not be demonstrating anything, but you should bring a tree or two to work on while there in order to get people interested.
