Bonsai Beginner's Class March 2023

Have you ever seen a miniature tree in a pot – known as bonsai – and wanted to learn the skills needed to grow your own?  In this hands-on class we’ll teach you the basics of how bonsai are created, and get you started growing, styling, and caring for your very own tree!

The morning portion of this course we will equip you with a basic understanding of the art of bonsai, its history and philosophy, and information on choosing plants, tools, and products.

For the afternoon portion, you will be given a tree, pot, wire, and soil to begin creating your own bonsai with the help of an instructor.  At the end of the class, you will go home with the bonsai tree you created, along with enough information and hands-on experience to continue your new hobby.

This 6-hour instructor-led class includes:

• A bougainvillea “purple” pre-bonsai tree
• Bonsai pot and soil
• Course materials (will be emailed to you)
• A one-year membership to the Bonsai Society of Greater Cincinnati for non-members (a $45 value)
