BSGC monthly meeting - This meeting will feature some of our Senior Members assisting in style and care tips for your individual trees. This will be a BYOT (Bring Your Own Tree) meeting and we will engage in Tree Talk learning from each other’s experience.
The Wooden Cask Brewing Company's “Brews & Bonsai” event taking place on Wednesday, April 30th, from 6:30-8:30pm will feature instructors from the Bonsai Society of Greater Cincinnati who will guide you through care, maintenance, and the creation of your own bonsai tree. The featured tree is Dwarf Pitch Apple, a tropical tree that grows amazing areal roots and gets small pink flowers with non-edible fruits that look like tiny green apples. Class includes a tree, pot, bonsai soil, wire, and tools for you use during class to shape your tree. Cost is $70 per tree and registrants can bring a guest or two if desired.
Marianne led two three-hour workshops for members to create their own landscape penjing. The most time-consuming part seemed to be attaching all the wires to the rock slabs with epoxy so we could wire the trees to the slabs. The workshops were well attended and the participants enjoyed the process.
For this month's meeting we will have a presentation on air layering, how they work, how to create them, and how to harvest them.
This month will be a program on bonsai pots and how to select one, and on how to re-pot bonsai.
Fellowship - 6-7pm
Regular meeting - 7-9pm
