Now is the time to start planning the work you do on your trees this year in preparation for the fall bonsai show in October.  Senior members will examine your trees and offer advice on styling and care so that you have a productive growing season.

The meeting will feature bonsai professional Stephanie Renaker-Jansen, owner of Reminiscent Bonsai in Florence, KY.  She will be giving a focused presentation on hardy plant bonsai pruning and repotting, with an emphasis on the early spring timing that sets these species up for a strong growing season.

A club support team will be on hand to assist with wiring, pruning, and repotting. Participants should bring their trees, wire, soil, and any necessary tools.  As a reminder, you should only repot your trees every 2-3 years.y here.

We had a great time with visiting bonsai artist Jason Parrish, who did a demo on a twisted up Scotch/Scots Pine.  On Friday we were at the Krohn doing 1-1 styling, and on Saturday we had the Scoth/Scots Pine workshop.  We plan to bring him back next year for a follow-up meeting and workshop.

This Member's Workshop features a day with Jason Parrish learning about and styling Scotch pine (pinus sylvestris). The workshop includes a nice Scotch pine pre-bonsai.  You will need to bring your own tools and wire, and copper wire is recommended but not required.
