Yamadori Outing with Ben Kirkland

If you didn't make it to the yamadori outing with Ben Kirkland from Appalachian Bonsai (Appalachian Bonsai) you missed a great trip.  Was it cold?  YES!  Did it snow the night before?  YES!  Did everyone have a good time and find some great trees? DEFINITELY!  15 folks from as far away as Dayton braved the weather to visit a homestead on 40 acres of land in Moscow, Ohio, in what was the club's first yamadori event in a number of years.  Surprisingly, the snow actually provided some contrast with the tree trunks, which made it easier to spot potential trees for collecting.  The tree species we collected were beech, maple, oak, spicebush, hornbeam, and poplar, and Ben was great at identifying species for us, pointing out differences, and generally making it a great event.  We're definitely going to try and make this an annual thing, so until next time, enjoy some photos of our adventure.
