One of the many things that your Bonsai Society is involved with is the bonsai collection in the John Carroll Bonsai Gallery at the Krohn Conservatory. Several of us maintain the collection weekly and answer questions of the guests about bonsai year-round.
First Saturday free meet-ups at the Krohn Conservatory are now open. Members meet at the Krohn to work on their own trees while chatting with other members and enjoying a few hours dedicated to your own trees.
You will need to bring a table cloth as well as your tree(s), tools, and supplies you will need when working on them. Note that there will be no meet-up the first Saturday in March.
This Member's Workshop features a day with Jason Parrish learning about and styling tropical flowering bonsai.
The workshop includes your choice of a Bougainvillea, Red Stem Sea Hibiscus, Variegated Leaf Sea Hibiscus, Lantana, or Barbados Cherry pre-bonsai tree.
The April workshop will be outing to the Ammon Nursery and Reminiscent Bonsai, both in the Florence/Burlington area of Northern Kentucky. This free workshop will focus on how to select great nursery stock for bonsai. We will be discussing what to look for and which features are important when examining trees in a nursery setting.
